In June 1971 Chuck Walker read about two hamburger joint workers in Southern California who just set a Teeter Totter World Record for the longest consecutive hours of 168 hours. At first he laughed and that turned into the thought about breaking their record. Everyone thought he was joking until he built the teeter totter and was soon on one side with Stan Johnson on the other.
They set a World's Record in Sacramento California for 216 consecutive hours from July 1st until July 9th 1971!
Six months later on December 31, 1971, the Brady Bunch aired an episode "The Teeter Totter Caper" which was a nod to two college students in the north who set the Teeter Totter Record. One of us is back....
Chuck Walker, along with his good friend, Mike Hartshorn, who he convinced to accompany him on the other side, will begin an attempt to break the 50 year old record on the anniversary.
Why do it again?
From Chuck Walker:
" I spent so many years remembering that record as a goofy stunt. I began to recall how much fun everyone had, especially the kids. Do it again? Surely my kids and grandkids would get a kick out of it as well, after all, they've been hearing about it all of their lives.
Thus began the next big dream! On the 50th Anniversary I will break my record and relive the experience with my family and friends.
What a perfect time to distract the world with something fun and give everyone something to smile and laugh about."
Dream Big! Twice!!
Now, more than ever, we hope this newest Teeter Totter Caper will be a welcome, fun and entertaining event to make everyone smile.
We hope friends and families, kids groups and communities will enjoy this and join Chuck and Mike sometime during this 10 day event for some fun and entertainment.
